Internet High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Monday, 24. May 2010

Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to achieve closing game in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. He won a huge pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While playing internet poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He often competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen generally buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I know Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has no reason to play at the game with the min buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes most of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amount. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world at times. The best players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be found betting on web poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in high stakes Omaha and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
