Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of one. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental comments from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
Phil began playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil admits to making blunders in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
