Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player in the world by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup everything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental feedback from others destroy his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

Phil began playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning experience and winning was not a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Although Phil has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
