Howard Lederer grew up in a family of 5 where he liked gambling on numerous card games at a young age. He discovered himself becoming really aggressive in these card games while playing his dad. The real advancement in his game happened when he began wagering at the Mayfair Club in New York City. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the best players would often challenge one another. He was able to access a number of the best minds in chess. Howard Lederer also assisted his sibling Annie Duke master the game of poker. She was a great student of the game as she constantly asked questions about how to make the proper choice. He told Annie to move out to Las Vegas and play in the World Series of Poker tournaments. Annie Duke is one of the strongest female players the poker world ever. Howard Lederer relocated to Vegas in 1993 and competed in cash games for the successive decade. When the World Poker Tournament gained popularity, Howard decided to participate in more tournaments.
