Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only player to make it to the last poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best gamblers in the world. While gambling on net poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He often plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all-in. I think television can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The best players anywhere in the world might just be players you have won’t have heard about.
