Online Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Friday, 23. December 2022

Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only player to make it to the last poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best gamblers in the world. While gambling on net poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He often plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all-in. I believe Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the min takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the full dollar value. I think television can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The best players anywhere in the world might just be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be found playing online poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in high stakes omaha hold’em and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash rounds?
