NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Wednesday, 18. December 2024
Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor in the world by most of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn anything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the detrimental feedback from others destroy his goal of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
He began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning experience and winning was not a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is quite humble about his success. He admits to making errors every single game of poker and always strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
