Internet Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Thursday, 10. January 2019
Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve last poker table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best enthusiasts in the world. While playing web poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I accept that Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy in.
Playing for the min takes almost all of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total dollar value. I believe tv can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The best players in the world might just be players you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be seen playing internet poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in high stakes Omaha and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash games?
