Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor in the world by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse comments from other people destroy his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
