Caribbean Poker Protocols and Hints

Internet poker has become globally acclaimed lately, with televised competitions and celebrity poker game events. The games universal appeal, though, arcs back in reality a bit farther than its TV ratings. Over the years several variations on the original poker game have been created, including some games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these particular games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely resembling twenty-one than old guard poker, in that the players bet against the house instead of the other players. The succeeding hands, are the established poker hands. There is little bluffing or other kinds of concealment. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to ante up just before the croupier declares "No further bets." At that point, both you and the house and of course every one of the different gamblers are given five cards each. After you have looked at your hand and the casino’s initial card, you must in turn make a call wager or surrender. The call bet’s amount is akin to your original bet, which means that the stakes will have increased two fold. Surrendering means that your bet goes directly to the casino. After the wager is the face off. If the dealer doesn’t have ace/king or greater, your wager is given back, plus a figure on par with the ante. If the casino has a hand with ace/king or greater, you win if your hand beats the casino’s hand. The casino pays cash even with your bet and set expectations on your call wager. These expectations are:
- Equal for a pair or high card
- 2-1 for 2 pairs
- three to one for 3 of a kind
- four to one for a straight
- five to one for a flush
- seven to one for a full house
- 20-1 for a four of a kind
- fifty to one for a straight flush
- one hundred to one for a royal flush
